The Rift Valley, with its unique cave formations, supports a wide range of life, but also to deadly viruses such as Marburg and Ravn. Within these caves, ecosystems develop around everything from bacteria and insects to large mammals such as elephants, all interacting with and benefiting from these formations. The sculpture explores this tension between the cave as a site that sustains and generates life, and at the same time as a site of disease, death and decay.
